Home of Manchester International Festival, hundreds of galleries, exhibitions and world-leading cultural events and the BBC’s huge, advanced broadcasting hub MediaCityUK, Manchester has built up a fierce reputation as one of the most exciting, creative cities in the world
Full of self-starters and innovators, Manchester is crying out for more affordable workspaces for makers, solopreneurs and micro-enterprise.
So what better place for us to launch our second container project?
Our goal: To establish one of Manchester’s biggest creative co-working communities, and give hundreds of aspiring entrepreneurs, creatives and small businesses the space they need to grow.
Launching: November 2018
Location: Pollard Street East, Manchester. The site neighbours hip Ancoats and New Islington, and is a 20 minute walk from the city centre along the canal.
The project: Our first Meanwhile Manchester project will provide much-needed, affordable studios and light industrial style workspaces very near to the centre of Manchester in converted shipping containers.
The pilot project will see us open around 30 ready-to-move-into workspaces before Christmas 2018, situated on a site with a Berlin-esque, DIY feel.
In 2019, we’ll go big. We’ll be adding up to another 300 affordable container workspaces, alongside investing more heavily in the site and shared facilities.
More on the spaces: Our containers offer ground level access, security and natural light from the front aspect. They are perfect workspaces for makers and hands-on creative practitioners.
Among those working from our sister project Cardiff Containers are a beautician, radio station, guitar luthier, graphic designer, music producer, illustrator and barista.
Pilot project spaces:
*Please note that these prices only apply to pilot project spaces and for the first 6 months of tenancy only. No VAT is applicable.
Following the pilot project, monthly rent will be in the region of £270 for small units and £380 for large units, though final prices are TBC.
By tram: Holt Town – 2 min walk / New Islington – 5 min walk
By bus: 216 or 231 from Piccadilly Gardens every 10 mins
On foot: 25 min walk from Piccadilly Gardens, 20 min from Piccadilly Station
Interested? We’re looking for founding members to come on board for the pilot project.
As well as being one of the first members of Manchester’s newest creative hub, you’ll enjoy heavily reduced rent for the first 6 months.
We’ll be running an Open Day mid November, with the first containers ready to move into shortly after that.
