Freestone Studios is a 10,000 square foot warehouse and maker space in the St Philips area of Bristol.
It is comprised of two floors, sub-divided into smaller units with simple walls made from OSB and houses over 40 artists, makers and creatives doing hands-on work and messier projects.
The spaces: Light industrial workshops, studios and storage, most with natural light. Spaces range from 100-600 square feet and most are open-topped.
Prices: Shared studio options start at £110/month. The bigger the space, the better value for money it is.
Location: Freestone Lane, St Philips, Bristol. BS2 0QN
Freestone Studios is just off Gas Lane tucked behind Bristol Temple Meads near to Motion Skate Park. Just a mile from the M32 and less to the Bath and Wells roads, the site is well placed for coming in and out of Bristol from both the north and south. Public transport links are second to none with the city’s main train station just minutes away on foot.
More on the building:
The Freestone Studios’ warehouse forms part of a larger site which also includes another Meanwhile Creative project, Kingsland Studios. Together they form one of Bristol’s largest creative workspaces with dozens of studios, offices and workshops providing space for hundreds of people.
Best bits: 24/7 access, ground floor loading bay, car parking option, proximity to Bristol Temple Meads, strong sense of community.
“It has also been an absolute pleasure to meet so many lovely, talented creative people here at Freestone Studios. From sharing cups of tea to sharing ideas, supporting individual projects and collaborating, it is a wonderful community.”
Cat Sinnamon Large, Freestone Studio resident and owner of Catupholstery.

"Freestone Studios is great for noisier and messier activities but still at a very affordable price."
